A graduate of the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, Dr. William Balcom chose to work in orthopedics because he loved sports. His interest led him to complete a fellowship in sports medicine at UMass Medical Center as well as fellowship in hip and knee reconstructive surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. He enjoys educating patients about their best options for care. He uses the latest surgical techniques including minimally invasive hip and knee surgery to help patients recover faster. He has worked with pro sports teams and even developed a new type of artificial knee joint. In his free time, he enjoys traveling and being active outdoors.
