Blackthorne Forge in Marshfield, operated by Steven Bronstein, is one of the 136 participants in the Vermont Crafts Council's Open Studio Weekend May 25 and 26. You'll find all sorts of functional and decorative ironwork and see what goes into making it. Map booklets for the tour are available at Vermont Artisan Designs on Main Street in Brattleboro. Took a ride over to the 41st Peru, VT, Fair yesterday to pick up some artwork from Woody Jackson. Got there in time to preview the annual parade that included some vintage cars, Smokey the Bear, a group of Scouts, and a Nordic group which anchored the parade which made its way through the many vendors and visitors.

The Vermont Crafts Council's annual meeting was held last week at the White River Craft Center in Randolph, VT. One of the members was fascinated by this hanging chime at the center. Preparations were discussed for the annual spring Open Studio Tour scheduled for May 24 and 25 throughout the state. Maps are available at Vermont Artisan Designs in Brattleboro.

Watercolor artist John Dimick, whose painting of Flat and Main in downtown Brattleboro is seen here, will be one of the featured artists for the month of May at Vermont Artisan Designs. During Gallery Walk on Friday night, May 2, he will be working on a new painting of Taylor for Flowers in the gallery's front window. You're invited to see some of his new work along with pastels by Ray Ruseckas, who is also featured for the month.

The recent Pastel Society of Vermont's annual show, once again held at Vermont Artisan Designs in Brattleboro, was well attended and hundreds of visitors voted for a People's Choice award offered by the gallery. "Calm Beauty" by Kim Waterhouse received the most votes
