John is a Registered Architect with more than 20 years of experience in a variety of architectural genres, but likes to focus on high-performance, energy efficient, residential design - where his heart is. Construction has been fascinating to him since the age of 8, when he would wander onto job sites looking for nails in the ground with which to build tree houses. John is a long time resident of Washington, growing up in Edmonds and earning his architectural degree from Washington State University. When not in the office, he enjoys spending time in his small energy-efficient home in Ballard with his wife, daughter, and cat. A believer that exercise is great for the mind, you may also find him biking, strength training, running, or hiking in the Olympics or the Methow Valley. John can also be found sailing, gardening, reading Fine Home Building magazine, or at a Northwest EcoBuilding Guild, Built Green, or Passive House Northwest function.
