Kris Stapes, owner and founder of Stapes Grading, started running heavy equipment when he was 14 helping out on the farm, then he went to work for a big corporation. He ran equipment, performed subgrade prep, and finished concrete at this company where he realized the importance of local, quality work. That’s what drove him to start his own business. Kris started Stapes Concrete and Grading in late 2009 because he had a vision of a better way to do this type of work, focusing on quality over the volume of projects. It has grown tremendously, going from one truck and one skid loader to four trucks, four skid loaders, an excavator, a roller, and more. He’s turned it into a family-ran, thriving business dedicated to performing high-quality work.
