My experience began as an intern in 2015, when I started working at Hill Crest Hospital, a freestanding psychiatric facility in Birmingham. I fell in love with the mental health field and all of the souls I met there. I completed another internship at the VA before graduating with my Master's degree in 2016.

From there, I got a job at Bryce Hospital, a historic psychiatric hospital run by the State of Alabama. I stayed there for almost four years, working with forensic patients the whole time. Forensic patients are typically those who have been found Not Guilty by Insanity for a felony level crime. My Bryce guys taught me more, and did infinitely more for me, than I did for them. I will always cherish them and that season of life.
