I had an absolutely horrible experience with this company. NOT professional movers, it's more like a "Craigslist" kind of situation.
Here's a list of issues I've had so far - still pending resolution as they're currently ignoring my request for furniture repair:
1. They double-booked during my time and delayed my move.
I had them booked for a 10 AM move - multiple emails confirming this time, I also called the week prior to confirm. I called them again the morning of the move, as I hadn't received any other communication. They clearly need a better process for booking and confirmation.
They said that my move was scheduled for 5:00 that day - and were not quick to offer solutions. I had to press for a better solution.
2. Ultimately, the solution to their mistake continued to be a bigger waste of my time.
They stated they'd start my move at 2:30 that day (better than 5:00 PM). So I found other things to do that day and then went back to my packed up house to start the move. They didn't arrive until 4:30.
I sent a text to Carlos at 2:35 to confirm the drivers were on they way which he confirmed. At 3:15 Carlos advised they had stopped to eat and get gas - therefore confirming a mistruth to his earlier text. This went on until the movers arrived. I could have spent this two-hour period running errands etc, but instead was given bad information to placate me. Not good service or communication. Be honest with your customers.
3. They arrived with a truck that was clearly too small.
I paid something like a $130 "truck fee" and expected to see a truck of ample size roll up to my house. This lead to damaged furniture, a longer than necessary loading period, and the need for me to personally go back to the property twice to finish the move I paid these guys to execute. This company also does not own their own trucks or equipment opting to rent from Uhaul. Definitely a red flag.
I've rented uHaul trucks in the past - it's a slight difference in cost to upgrade to an adequate truck - especially considering I paid a $130 truck fee.
4. The movers were nice guys - but clearly not trained.
I personally liked the guys that moved my stuff - but they were clearly not trained. For example, the movers decided to move my all wood entertainment center using a metal dolly, with no furniture pad. They let it drop down one step from my front door, damaging my entertainment center. I took a picture immediately and told them that this would not be acceptable for this move. They then started to be much more careful with my stuff.
5. They went dark when we started to discuss furniture repair.
As seen on other review sites - they'll initially engage with you about furniture repair, but then go dark when it comes to actually repairing the furniture. This has been my experience also.
Overall, it's "amateur hour" at Rubenie's Mighty Movers. They need to seriously take a step back and evaluate how they're doing business and approaching customer service etc. AVOID this company.
