Dr. Acosta is a Family Medicine physician who specializes in adult preventive medicine and Geriatrics. Dr. Acosta started an independent practice in 1987, and after several successful years, became a founding partner of Stamford Family Practice.
Dr. Acosta and his partners joined Stamford Health Medical Group (SHMG) in 2011, becoming the first primary care group to join. Dr. Acosta has served as Medical Director of several local skilled nursing facilities, Chair of the Department of Family Medicine, Chair of the Credentials Committee, Chair of the Peer Review Oversight Committee, and Chair of the medical staff at Stamford Hospital.
Dr. Acosta has received multiple awards and recognitions throughout his career including Compassionate Care Award from St. Camillus, Planetree Physician of the Year at Stamford Hospital, and has been named one of the Top Doctors in the New York Metropolitan area 16 years in a row. Dr. Acosta presently serves as the President and CEO of SHMG and is the Chief Physician Executive at Stamford Hospital.
