James Dallner was raised in Billings and graduated from Billings West High in 1998. After high school, James attended college and law school in Missoula, graduating from the University of Montana School of Law in 2005. James moved to Denver following law school to work for a judge on the Colorado Court of Appeals.

Matt Braukmann was born to a working-class family in rural NW Oregon. After graduating near the top of his class in high school, Matt obtained an Administration of Justice degree, with honors, in 2000. Matt worked construction to help pay his way through college and was the first person in his family to attend college. After working for a large Portland, Oregon law firm for two years, Matt enrolled at the University of Oregon School of Law in 2002.
