Raoul Mayer, MD, PhD earned his medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed his residency at Mount Sinai Hospital. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Columbia University and is board certified in Colon and Rectal Surgery. Dr. Mayer has been practicing medicine for over 25 years. Prior to joining Piedmont, Dr. Mayer served in multiple medical leadership roles, including Chief of Surgery, Member of the Quality Improvement Committee, Chairman of Credentialing Committee, Chief of Staff and Vice President of Medical Affairs. Dr. Mayer specializes in the treatment of a wide variety of Colorectal diseases including, Colon and Rectal Cancer, Anal Cancer, Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative Colitis and Diverticulitis. Dr Mayer also has special expertise in dealing with routine and complex anorectal conditions, such as hemorrhoids, fissures, fistulas and abscesses, Rectal Prolapse and fecal incontinence. Dr Mayer enjoys family time and travelling with his wife, Agnes Han MD, a practicing Gastroenterologist, and son Andrew, a graduate of Auburn University. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He has been named a Top Doctor by Castle Connolly and Atlanta Magazine consecutively for the past 14 years. Dr. Mayer is accepting new patients and welcomes most major insurance plans.
