Rachel Clay is a Certified Physician Assistant at Pinnacle Dermatology in Manchester, Tennessee. She began her education at Middle Tennessee State University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, a Minor in Chemistry, and Honors Distinction. From undergrad to graduate school, Rachel worked for several years as a patient care technician & phlebotomist in the hospital, as well as a medical scribe in the emergency room. Afterwards, she graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University with a Master of Science in Medicine, with a focus in Physician Assistant Studies. In graduate school, she completed 17 months of didactic work in the classroom and one year of hands-on clinical rotations across various counties in Tennessee. During her rotations, she gained experience in Dermatology, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Vascular Surgery, Mental & Behavioral Health, Women’s Health, Pediatrics, and Internal Medicine. Rachel was personally drawn to dermatology while rotating with Dr. Nelson at Stones River Dermatology. There, she had the privilege of learning a variety of skills, including excisional, shave, and punch biopsies; full-body skin exams; aesthetic treatments; patient education; and various dermatologic medical treatments. As of August 2024, she is board-certified via the Physician Assistant National Certification Exam and has obtained her Physician Assistant Tennessee State License. Mrs. Clay is very excited to be a part of Pinnacle’s team of dermatology experts and is passionate about their mission to provide exceptional patient care. She states: “As someone who personally battled eczema and nodular acne growing up, I understand the struggles patients face when it comes to achieving healthy skin. My passion as a provider is not only to improve my patients’ dermatologic conditions but also to boost their self-confidence. I want my patients to feel at home and comfortable when they come into the clinic. I want them to feel free to bring up any dermatologic concerns or questions. It is my passion to care for my patients not only physically but also emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. I want the patients of Pinnacle Dermatology to know that I am ready and willing to serve them, to help restore their skin to its full potential, and to build lasting relationships along the way.”
