Putnam 1st Mercantile is one of only two banks that is both locally owned and operated in Putnam County. The bank was organized by a group of Putnam County residents looking for a true community bank. The organizers wanted a bank where customers could still be treated like family and were they could interact with someone capable of making a decision at a local level.
