NewView Laser Eye, Inc. opened its doors on November 15, 1999. The business plan was developed by Jacqueline D. Griffiths, M.D., and Darren Jones. Initially the plan was to provide only laser vision correction services to the greater Washington metropolitan area since the laser eye industry was growing in an exponential fashion at that time. It was determined that there was a void of any more personalized doctor-run practices which were more patient focused rather than business-focused in this area. That is when NewView was born.
