He performs all surgeries on the colon, rectum, and anus, as well as routine and advanced colonoscopies. Dr. Pidala moved here in 1998 and was one of the first colon and rectal surgeons in Houston to perform minimally invasive laparoscopic colon resections.
Dr. Pidala is an assistant professor of surgery at the The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). He plays an active role in the education of the residents enrolled in the colon and rectal surgery program at the University of Texas. He has published numerous peer reviewed articles and book chapters.
Dr. Pidala received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati Medical School and completed his residency in general surgery at Akron City Hospital in Akron, OH. From there, Dr. Pidala completed a residency in colon and rectal surgery at UMDNJ/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ.
When not seeing patients or teaching, Dr. Pidala enjoys spending quality time with his wife and three children, traveling, and exercising.
