I have always known that I wanted to work in the medical field but didn’t decide to pursue nursing until my sophomore year of college. I am so glad that I made that decision to change my major nursing because I think this is one of the most rewarding careers to have. I started my career at on a general medicine floor then ended my bedside nursing career in the emergency department and noticed a consistent pattern of patients being hospitalized due to a lack of preventative care. I became a nurse practitioner so I can provide preventative care to patients to help avoid hospitalizations. My philosophy of care is to provide patient centered care that is individualized for each patient to help them achieve their goals and be successful. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my son and husband, going to concerts, gardening and trying new restaurants.
