LG Health Interventional Psychiatry

Business type: Medical Clinic, Psychiatrists

Business Information
When a patient is diagnosed with a condition such as depression or anxiety, the first treatments administered are usually counseling and medication. Many patients experience improvement from these standard treatments but in some cases improvement does not occur. These patients may benefit from interventional tools that offer direct brain stimulation.
The Interventional Psychiatry Program provides specialized treatments for patients who have certain psychiatric diagnoses and have symptoms that are not getting any better with their current treatment plan.
We may recommend interventional psychiatry for people with treatment-resistant:
• Bipolar disorder• Catatonia• Depression• Obsessive-compulsive disorder• Schizophrenia
We offer noninvasive and minimally invasive interventions, allowing us to select the right treatment for your needs. Our therapies include:
• IV Ketamine: IV ketamine infusion therapy is administered in low doses under the close supervision of a doctor. It is known to be a safe, effective therapy for certain mental health conditions that have not been relieved through other treatment methods. A referral from your primary care provider is required to make an appointment.
• Esketamine nasal spray: Intranasal Esketamine is an antidepressant medication that we deliver through a nasal spray. The procedure lasts for approximately 2.5 hours, and a course of treatment is typically a specific period of weeks or months. It’s more potent than traditional oral antidepressants and can provide rapid relief for people with treatment-resistant depression.
• Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS): TMS is a drug-free treatment that delivers magnetic pulses to your left prefrontal cortex, the part of your brain that may be underactive if you have depression. TMS therapy is an outpatient procedure our physicians perform in the office with no anesthesia or sedation needed. Each session is less than 20 minutes, and patients may immediately resume normal activities. Typical treatments are five days a week for seven weeks.
• Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT): ECT is an outpatient procedure that uses electrical stimulation to produce a brief, mild seizure. The stimulation changes the chemical activity in the part of your brain that regulates mood and emotion. An initial course of ECT consists of 12-15 session, with 2-3 sessions per week. ECT is a safe, effective and quick-acting treatment option.
