Dr. Jonathan P. earned his Bachelor's from Howard University in Washington in 1992, Dr. Taylor continued at Howard University College of Medicine, earning his Medical Degree in 1996. He performed his Surgery residency at the University of California, Davis in 2001.

Dr. Jonathan P. Taylor entered a solo private practice for several years. In 2010, he joined The Baton Rouge Clinic's Surgery Department.

Dr. Taylor created The Baton Rouge General's Bariatric Surgery Program and serves as its Medical Director. Dr. Taylor is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is licensed to practice in the state of Louisiana. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the National Medical Association, the Louisiana State Medical Society, the EBR Parish Medical Association, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.
