What is the most rewarding aspect of caring for people? It’s wonderful to see a patient come back to the office feeling better after we’ve improved their heart function. It’s highly rewarding to be with patients during an acute cardiac illness and the stresses that brings, and have the privilege to observe the improvement in the quality of their health and life. A situation that begins as life threatening ends up as life changing.

While my focus is heart disease, my training in internal medicine allows me to care for patients based on other medical diagnoses they may have. This perspective is often critical to medical decision-making. Another key is open discussion between the patient and the doctor. While I love pursuing and learning new techniques and technologies, knowing when and when not to use them is just as important. In my experience, the patient will bring great insight into the discussion.
