I am a certified family nurse practitioner with a passion for my community and the people in it. I have worked in healthcare since I was a teenager. I was inspired at the age of 9, when my father took our entire family overseas on a mission trip. My nursing career has now spanned more than two decades, and most of that time has been in critical care. \n I am a goal-oriented, lifelong learner in continual pursuit of excellence in patient care. My aim is to establish a trusting, collaborative partnership with my patients - one built on trust that will empower patients to reach their goals and experience optimal health. \n To me, family medicine is like a box of chocolates because you never know what you're going to get. I love meeting people from all walks of life, and my job allows me to do that. I enjoy family medicine because I appreciate having diversity and variety in my work and in my life outside work. \n Since 2011, I have been a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society for nurses. In 2012, I received the North Carolina Nursing Association Great 100 award. I have received several honors from Novant Health, including the Certificate of Excellence for Transformation of the ICU (2008) and the Novant Health Remarkable 45 award (2011). \n I have two incredible children, a goofy English lab and two cats. I love my local YMCA, not only for what they do for me, but for what they do for our communities. When not working - or working out - I enjoy spending time with family, cooking, music and social outings.
