Things to consider on days like today: If you aren’t CERTAIN you have damage to your home, you might want to get an inspection from a licensed contractor BEFORE calling your ins co. If you call & ask for an adjuster to come to your home just to “check things out”, you are filling a claim. ‼️ An insurance rep won’t come out unless a claim is filed. ‼️ Read that again. Once a claim is filed, it’s on your record & can’t be removed, even if: 1. There is no damage. 2. The type of damage is not covered 3. The amount of damage doesn’t exceed your deductible. Claim frequency impacts your cost & insurability. Average Homeowner policy has 1 claim every 10-20 years. If a roofer knocks on your door & tells you -R-U-N! I could elaborate but I won’t. There’s just far too much to say.
