Inspired Mom Organic Cleaning

As a small business owner myself, I typically only leave positive reviews out of principle. However, occasionally a service is rendered so poorly, so unprofessionally, and without basic human empathy that I am compelled to share my experience in the hope that it can prevent others from repeating my mistakes.

Such is the case with Alicia Mejia at Inspired Mom Organic Cleaning. My wife and I hired Alicia in December 2022 for a monthly house cleaning. She cleaned our house for a total of 5 months (Dec-April), and the cleanings had been going ok, not great. Occasionally she would be late, and would miss certain parts of the house (ex: a bathroom toilet). All of this is correctable with feedback, and I would offer 3 stars for the actual cleaning services.

Before our 5th cleaning in April, Alicia reached out to us ahead of time and requested a pre-payment for the cleaning, citing a family emergency. We debated but ultimately gave her the benefit of the doubt... the cleaning was only $150 and if the pre-payment would help her through a tough time, great, happy to help. Later that week, Alicia came to our house for the scheduled cleaning and performed the service normally.

Ahead of our next cleaning in May, Alicia once again reached out to request pre-payment. We again pre-paid her, but with slightly less patience and told ourselves that this would be the last time. On the day of our scheduled cleaning, Alicia didn't show up. A few hours go by and we call her, but her phone was either off or she was ignoring our calls. At this point, we knew there was a chance that we were being scammed, but were also genuinely worried about someone that we trusted in our house and around our family for the past 6 months.

We finally get a hold of her a few hours later on the phone. She picks up the phone, we say hello, and she hangs up. By now, the benefit of the doubt is gone, and we accept that we've been ripped off completely.

This incident was a full week ago. We have been in contact with Alicia since via text, and gave her ample chances to return the money ($150) before writing reviews and flagging her accounts.

Possibly the worst part of all is that she is attempting to gaslight us into thinking that she somehow did not steal from us. The fact is - she is a week late on payment, with no intention to pay us, and did not render the service that we paid for. That IS stealing, no question about it.

These are the facts... I won't speculate what darkness must be going on in someone's life to justify stealing money from a family who has trusted you and given you the benefit of the doubt for 6 months, not to mention that my wife is 9 months pregnant... I just hope that she gets the help that she needs to move forward.

I share this detailed report in the hopes that it will remove any doubts to its legitimacy. When you tell someone "my cleaning lady stole from me", it sounds like a trope. Sadly, these things happen, and my faith in humanity has been shaken a little bit this week.
