Imram Shafqat, MD, chose family medicine because it allows him to take a holistic approach toward patient care. After losing his father to cancer when he was a teenager, Dr Shafqat became curious in knowing if there was a way to prevent and/or detect cancer early. He was also inspired to pursue medicine by his family doctor. Not only was his doctor able to detect illnesses and intervene, he also noticed how his family and friends built a trusting relationship with their doctors. Dr Shafqat enjoys having an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of his patients. He has special interests in treating patients with diabetes and those interested in medically supervised weight loss.
