Dr Landy was born in Texas and grew up in South Florida. He earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York, and he received his MD from the University of Miami in 1980. His internship in General Surgery and residency in Neurological Surgery were served at the University of Miami Affiliated Hospitals, completing his chief residency in 1987. During residency, he received special training in functional and stereotactic neurosurgery from his mentor, Dr John Van Buren. His concentration in epilepsy surgery included significant experience in electroencephalography under the tutelage of Dr Cosimo Ajmone-Marsan.
