Heather Preuss, M.D., is a Family Medicine Physician at Monument Health Hot Springs Clinic. Dr. Preuss completed a Family Medicine Residency at Clarkson Family Medicine in Omaha, NE. She received her M.D. from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, graduating with distinction. From the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, she completed the Honors program and graduated with distinction, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry.

Dr. Preuss has enjoyed caring for patients for over 25 years. Her initial 9 years of medical practice were in Omaha, NE with Methodist and Children's Hospitals. Since 2009, she has been dedicated to serving patients in the southern Black Hills region, having previously practiced in Custer Hospital, Rapid City Urgent Cares and full time in Hot Springs.

Dr. Preuss's passion is taking care of the whole family, working to keep people healthy and preventing disease whenever possible. She is dedicated to listening, problem-solving and caring for the individual. Her mission is to serve others and her patients appreciate that she keeps searching for answers, is thorough and doesn't give up.

Dr. Preuss has served in several roles with the South Dakota State Medical Association, including as a Policy Councilor, Policy Chair and Executive Board Member. Most recently, she was elected to the South Dakota Academy of Family Physicians Board of Directors. She also serves on the South Dakota Medicaid Pharmaceutical and Therapeutics Committee.

In her free time, Dr. Preuss enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. She enjoys the beautiful outdoors, music, theater, sports, travel and photography.
