I have had the good fortune to live the last 35 years of my life in Elkhart County. I also consider it good fortune that I have worked for exceptional companies and have developed acquaintances and close friendships with many people with whom I did business. I have been involved in numerous organizations and have given of my time to each cause. The result has been a wealth of friends who have enriched my life. Life moves us in different directions. Sometimes we make our move based on what we think is best for our future and our families and at other times circumstances cause us to change course. Recently my wife and I moved to Marysville Washington to be near our children and grandchildren. I have always had a desire to help people and offer whatever insight, advice or food for thought that I thought would be helpful to others. Over the last 4 years I have had a number of personal experiences that have given me insight into areas that previously I took for granted. I had several surgeries and hospital stays; one for a broken ankle and the other for a knee replacement. I learned how vulnerable we are to the financial devastation of huge medical expenses even if we have health insurance. I have also seen my elderly parents decline in health and see my father move into a nursing home. The enormous cost and emotional impact has been both surprising and enlightening.
