The agency was originally started by Nellie E. Goddard in 1947. It remains family owned today with Michael Shawd, its principal, being the third generation.
The office is located in Barlow Ohio and primarily serves clients in Southeastern Ohio; however, as some clients migrate to other parts of the state, they continue to look to Goddard-Shawd for their insurance needs.
Goddard-Shawd is a member of Professional Independent Agents Association of Ohio, Inc.(PIAA) and Mid Ohio Valley Chamber of Commerce. The agency has been designated a Senior Partner by Grange Insurance Companies for 7 years.
