We had Farmers Insurance and then switched back to Allstate. We ended up having to file a claim for hail damage but that hail damage occurred while we had Farmers Insurance. So because of that we had to file a claim with Farmers.
Once the claim it had been filed, we got a phone call from Farmers Insurance stating that we owed them money from the the policy we had. Now mind you, once we canceled that policy, they reimbursed US money for that policy.
During that phone call we were told that unfortunately, the insurance adjuster who wrote the policy on our house, or rather sent it to underwriting, said our policy stated the roof was original to the house. And that we owed $489.12 in additional premium because in fact the roof had been replaced in 2011. We spoke to our current Insurance person and he said in actuality they would owe you money because it would not cost more to ensure a roof from 1973.
But that's neither here nor there simply because Farmer's Insurance made a BIG mistake. They wrote in the policy that our roof was from 1973 rather than from 2011. That should not fall on us. We called our agent here in Tyler, her name is Amanda Sanchez. She's the one that is supposed to be our advocate and look out for us right?. When we called her and told her what happened her response was "that adjuster is no longer here and I'm not going to take the hit for that."
We have filed a complaint with Farmers Insurance against Amanda, we have talked to Farmers Insurance who says there's no one above whoever we talked to in customer service dept that can do anything about it but they would try to have someone reach out. They were supposed to have someone email me, but I mever got anything. And we've also filed a formal complaint with the Texas Department of Insurance, which also say there's nothing they can do about it.
Yesterday, we received a collection letter because Farmers turned this over to collections. His credit score is somewhere around 850 and mine is an 891. We've worked our butts off for these credit scores. But Farmers Insuranve is WRONG and it feels like retaliation because we filed a claim with them. I know it's only less than $500 but it's still wrong and we refuse to pay it because we don't owe that money. I guess it'll sit on our credit for the next 7 years and will take the hit for it just out of pure principle. I hope that you never ever ever trust Amanda Sanchez in Tyler Texas to do anything for your insurance needs and I hope that if you have Farmers Insurance with her, you find someone else to change it to before this happens to you.
SHAME ON YOU FARMERS INSURANCE AND AMANDA SANCHEZ!!!! TAKE THAT OUT OF COLLECTIONS!!! IT WAS YOUR MISTAKE AND YOU SHOULD PAY FOR IT!
