Edward Dunn, MD, ScD, MBA, MPH, MPA, earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Mich. He completed a general surgery residency at Louisiana State University in New Orleans, followed by a cardiothoracic surgery residency at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.

Dr. Dunn went on to complete fellowships in vascular surgery at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas; cardiopulmonary transplantation at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif.; consultative ethics at the University of Chicago MacLean Center; and hospice and palliative medicine at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

In addition to his medical training, Dr. Dunn holds master’s degrees in business administration, public health, and public administration, as well as a Doctor of Science in health policy and management.

Dr. Dunn brings extensive experience as a cardiothoracic surgeon, has held numerous academic appointments, and has authored and presented clinical research. He also served as a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellow and legislative staff member on the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions Committee under Senator Edward Kennedy from 2000 to 2001.

Board-certified in general surgery and hospice and palliative medicine, Dr. Dunn is a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery. He is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, the Center to Advance Palliative Care, the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities, the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Massachusetts Medical Society, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and Physicians for Social Responsibility.
