My approach to patient care involves treating all of my patients with honor, humility, and kindness. I treat my patients as if they were family members, doing everything I possibly can to obtain the best outcome. I will always take the extra time to make sure my patients feel heard and understood. I believe it is critically important to treat patients of all backgrounds, races, religions, and sexual orientation with the upmost respect and to create a safe environment free of judgement. My philosophy is that the foundation of patient care is the human connection. Additionally, as an osteopathically trained physician, I understand the importance of looking at the entire picture, instead of just focusing on one aspect of the problem. During my medical school rotations, I found that I was able to create relationships with my patients aside from simply prescribing medications or performing a procedure. My patients would ask to talk with me, and I would find myself always staying late at the hospital to listen to my patients’ life experiences. Even as a medical student, I tremendously valued my patients opening up, and felt so honored that they chose to be vulnerable with me. Psychiatry was a natural fit as compassion and empathy drives my will to practice medicine. I grew up in Chicago, went to undergraduate school and medical school in Michigan, and completed residency training in Florida. I love to paint, draw, exercise, and cook. I love Indian food and Ethiopian food and can never seem to get enough of these two cuisines.
