Originally from Guntersville, Alabama, Dr. Patel graduated from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, with a degree in pharmacy. Upon graduation, Dr. Patel founded multiple pharmacies and served as a chief pharmacist while also mentoring/teaching as off-site faculty for Samford University School of Pharmacy. With a rewarding career in his pharmacy practice, Dr. Patel chose to further his education in the field of medicine.

He earned his Doctor of Osteopathy at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Suwanee, Georgia, and completed his anesthesiology residency at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, where he served as Chief Resident in his final year. Dr. Patel finished his post-graduate training at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas, one of the premier pain management training programs in the country. Dr. Patel is a board-certified anesthesiologist with subspecialty training in pain medicine.
