Colin's Plumbing

I want to let people know that they done the work for my 80 year old mother who's only income is her social security. bathroom sink drain was clogged and had been like that for awhile. with the covid pandemic not very many companies that would do house calls anyway so it was not a emergency. my mom looking for a plumber in St croix falls to keep it close called Colin's plumbing for a estimate. assuming that they were from scf. he said he would have to look at it before he could say how much it was. he didn't get to her house until 4 pm. he just started working on it. was told that it had been tried before but we could not get it. he tried for a while and then he said that he would have to cut the pipe. he did and got the pipe unplugged and patched it with a rubber piece and 2 hose clamps. when my mom asked if he was going to bill her he said that he would figure it out now so he doesn't forget anything. so the bill he handed my mom was for 995.00. which broke down to 200 for travel, 600 for labor and 195 for the rubber patch and 2 hose clamps. he made it seem like he wanted the bill paid before he left. so we scraped up enough to pay it off. I realize that plumbers work hard and it's not the cleanest working environment to be in. so what I don't like about Colin's plumbing is how they are not totally upfront with their prices and the mark up of the supplies. I mean a piece of rubber hose and 2 hose clamps for 195.00 give me a break. I hope he feels good about over charging a 80 year old lady. I will go out of my way to tell people how he operates and will never recommend them to anyone!
