Dr. Gamaldo earned her medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine. After completing her neurology residency at the University of North Carolina Hospital, she became the first neurology sleep fellow at Johns Hopkins University (JHU) School of Medicine in 2004. Since joining the Johns Hopkins Department of Neurology, her career accomplishments reflect her passion and pursuit of excellence across the Johns Hopkins’ pillars of teaching, research and clinical care. She has over 122 scholarly works in the areas of sleep medicine research, medical education and academic career development. In recognition of her contributions, Dr. Gamaldo has received awards in domains of research discovery, education, clinical care, and leadership, including the American Academy of Neurology – Sleep Science Award; The JHU Institute of Excellence - Educator Scholarship Award; The American Academy of Neurology – Educator Innovation Award; The American Academy of Sleep – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leadership Award; and “Top Doctors” recognitions in Baltimore magazine and the Washington Post.
