Dr. Smith is an Assistant Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of General Pediatrics. He is also the Associate Medical Director of the Harriet Lane Clinic. Following his undergraduate studies at St. Mary's College of Maryland, Dr. Smith completed medical school at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He then went on to train in pediatrics for residency at the Johns Hopkins Children's Center, where he also served as chief resident. After residency, he completed his fellowship in General Academic Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins. During that time, he obtained his Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. As a pediatrician and clinician investigator, Dr. Smith is focused on the equitable delivery of primary care for children with chronic disease and medical complexity through patient and family engagement. He is actively involved in the education of trainees, including medical students and residents, as an attending physician and Associate Medical Director of the Harriet Lane Clinic. In this role, he leads the development of the Harriet Lane Clinic Patient and Family Advisory Council.
