A native of Barranquilla, Colombia, Aysa Chavarria grew up with a mother who worked as a nurse’s assistant. It was her mother’s dedication to always helping others that set the example for Aysa to pursue a career in nursing.

After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Universidad del Norte, in Barranquilla, Colombia, Aysa worked as a nurse in rural Colombian villages before moving to the United States. She arrived to Nevada in 2010 and worked as a Registered Nurse in a local hospital’s Intensive Care Unit while pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing from University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). She graduated from the program in 2016 and continued her studies to earn her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2021, also from UNLV. Today, Aysa provides care to a broad-spectrum of patients, drawing on her experience in long-term care, medical/surgical units, intensive care, and the trauma unit. She believes in taking care of patients by establishing relationships and having good communication. Aysa dedicates herself to helping patients, in English or Spanish.

In her free time, Aysa enjoys playing with and reading to her daughters. She also loves to sing and is pretty good at it too. To keep life balanced, Aysa makes sure she gets physical activity – such as taking long walks and practices yoga -- for both fitness and stress relief.
