She was accepted to the competitive, accelerated, seven-year BS/MD program at the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, where she finished at the top of her class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She then completed an ophthalmology residency as well as corneal subspecialty fellowship at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York City. She was selected by her peers and mentors to become Chief Resident.
