I do not like leaving negative reviews, as I understand how important word of mouth is for businesses and contract work, so I do not write this lightly. In this case, I feel it is important to warn others and wish someone had warned us. I absolutely do not recommend hiring Greg Taylor - All Phase Remodeling - 303-557-8782 for home renovation projects. His communication is unprofessional and he is not reliable: - He pushed back the start date for the project on our house 3 times. This was last minute and often we only found out because we reached out to confirm him being at our house. He was supposed to start the week of Thanksgiving, and a few days before when we went out to see the materials he ordered for us he said it would be the week after because he was behind in other projects. When we expressed some frustration about the last minute change of plans, he stated “there’s nothing I can do about that.” We reached out to confirm him being there on the following Monday, and he then told us he had to go to Denver that day so would be there Tuesday. The timeframe he set with us was to be to our house between 8-8:30am. When he was not there by that time I called and texted him and he called back stating he forgot his clips and would be there soon. He did not arrive until 9:30ish. - He did the work that day and Wednesday as agreed upon. There had been several months between when we hired Greg for the job and paid him for the materials and when we had scheduled for him to start. In part, we were led to believe, this was because he was going to paint the doors prior to installing. He had painted none of the doors when he arrived and brought the doors to start the project on our house. When we expressed frustration about this (this was not what we agreed upon, and I have a baby I would prefer not be around paint fumes in our house), Greg seemed dismissive stating he did not have time to paint them and couldn’t do it in the shop and then the weather got cold, and that “it’ll be okay I’ll get them painted” while walking away from me. - On Thursday he cancelled last minute stating he would be there the next day. On Friday he did not show up and did not let us know until I reached out to him asking if he is coming and he stated “no I don’t feel good.” - At this point I texted a list of concerns to Greg wanting to make sure he was aware of them, and stating that I am unsure how the process works and they might already be on his radar to be fixed. One of the doors he installed already does not shut at all. Another does not shut correctly (have to pull harder than normal to get to latch). There are nail holes in sides of several of the door frames that should not be there. One of the door frames has a sliver a couple inches long missing from an edge the will still be visible after casing is put on. Another door is warped and dinged up on one of the bottom corners. Greg did not respond do this. - On Sunday I reached out asking what time we could expect him on Monday, and received no response. On Monday morning I reached out again - an attempted call with no answer, and then a text asking what days and times this week we could expect him to continue the job. Again, no response. Then my husband called him. Greg called my husband back later that day with still no response to me. He seemed frustrated on the phone, stating that he sets his own schedule and that he is not going to continue the job as he does not want us to keep finding things wrong with it. My husband expressed it has just been difficult communicating with Greg. To be clear - we never tried to control Greg’s schedule, we were just reasonably wanting to know when he would be at our house and to have an idea of when our project that we were paying for would be done. Greg also stated he “did not damage the doors” - no one ever said Greg himself damaged the doors; however, we paid him to get new doors and materials because our old ones were damaged, and he is the one that accepted the damaged ones from where he ordered them and installed them in our house. We did not get to look at all of the doors and inspect them to approve receiving them. We did not get what we paid him for. - Greg told my husband he would drop off a check the next day for the materials we paid for that he has not yet bought or ordered, and drop off the remaining doors he had already ordered, and that he would not be finishing the project. HE QUIT MID-JOB. My husband asked him multiple times to let us know when he arrived so we could open the garage door for the remaining doors to be put in. He did not respond. I happened to be home and see him pull up, and went outside. He was almost finished leaning the doors up against the side of our house. I said hi, and he said hi, and then he said “okay there you go” and was going to walk off. I asked where the check was, and he said he taped it to the door (the check was there, and it did clear). I inquired about a last door he had stated he was going to order because he got one that opened the wrong way, as I was not sure if we were charged for this door or not. He said he would bring it by when it came in (we have yet to see this door, and it has been about 4 weeks since he stated this). I asked if he was going to do anything about the two doors he put in that were damaged and he said he didn’t damage them and “it’s not my fault” and he didn’t need to do anything about it. I reiterated I was not stating he damaged them but it was his responsibility to get us new undamaged doors that we paid for. Mid-sentence of me talking he continued to walk toward his truck. I asked if he was just going to walk away and then he got in his truck and drove off. - We were not provided anything other than a very general invoice or any receipts, so it is unclear to us if the money we received back from Greg is an accurate amount. We are definitely in the hole when it comes to the new ones we paid for he installed that are damaged and are left having to just accept more damaged doors in our house or eat the money to get new ones again. He did not charge us for any labor - which is good given he did not spend much time doing labor at our house and what he did do included installing some doors that don’t work properly and left us without doing the casing on the ones he did instal (so you can see into the bathrooms because of the cracks). We should have done more research and gotten more things in writing. Maybe he does good finished products, but we personally will never know and the process with Greg was a huge headache. Just want to save others from entering a similar mess that we’re left with.
