Some sentences were technically polished but sounded unlike the rest of the manuscript. We compared them with the author's strongest passages and adjusted the wording until the voice felt natural again. Good editing should make writing clearer without removing the personality that makes it distinctive.

The original ending explained too much. During revision, I realized that the reader had already understood the central idea by that point. Instead of adding another explanation, I shortened the conclusion and allowed the final moment to stand on its own.

The illustrator had to maintain the same characters and visual style throughout the entire book. We created reference sketches early in the process so details such as clothing, proportions, and expressions would remain consistent. That saved time during the later stages. I reviewed the sketches before final artwork and requested a few changes to backgrounds and poses. The final illustrations feel cohesive from beginning to end.

The story itself hadn't changed much, but the layout made a surprisingly large difference. The publishing team helped determine where page turns should happen and how the text should interact with the illustrations. We changed several spreads after seeing the first proof because certain moments didn't have enough visual space.

My biggest concern was that outsourced social media would make my accounts sound unlike me. The first few posts were more formal than I normally write, so I gave the team examples of my usual style. They adjusted the tone, and later posts felt much more natural. I also liked that the content included writing updates and reader questions instead of constantly promoting the book.
